For more than three decades, Serra Hyundai and the Serra Automotive family have stood behind the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama. Back in the early 1990s, Tony and Steve Serra played a key role in helping launch the Club on Old Springville Road — a project that has continued to inspire us ever since.

Steve Vincent Serra had a true passion for helping kids find a brighter future. He believed deeply in the Club’s mission to guide young people, especially those facing tough challenges, toward becoming caring and responsible adults. One of his favorite reminders came from Denzel Washington, a former Club member:

“If you want to change the world, start by changing the life of a child.”

Steve didn’t just share those words — he lived them every day.

Though we lost Steve in 2023, his legacy carries on. Plans are already in motion for the new Steve Serra Boys & Girls Club in Center Point. A location has been selected and zoning is underway, bringing us closer to opening a facility that will shape the lives of local children for years to come.

This year, our support went even further with the return of our Dingers for Dollars campaign in partnership with the Birmingham Barons. For every home run hit, Serra Hyundai pledged $200 to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Thanks to a strong season on the field, we proudly donated $15,400 to support programs that truly make a difference.

The campaign was about more than baseball — it was about honoring Steve’s mission and rallying the community together around a shared goal: giving kids the opportunities they deserve.

At Serra Hyundai, we’re proud to keep this partnership alive and thriving. Together with the Boys & Girls Clubs, we’re building a better future — one child, one swing, and one act of support at a time.

We know Steve would be proud to see the impact his vision continues to have today.
